Te Reo, Term 4 2016.

This term we have been learning all about the Marae. We have learned that…….

• The Marae is an important focal point for the community.
• The Marea is a place where tradition and customs can be carried out.
• The Marae is a place where people can express their values with dignity.
• There are many kawa ( protocols) that prevail on the marae.
• Marae kawa (protocols) can differ between maraes and iwi.

We have focussed on some key concepts when doing this learning.

These are listed and explained in the table below.

Pōwhiri	the Pōwhiri is the welcoming ceremony on the marae
Tangata whenua	are the local people who are connected to the marae
Manuhiri	visitors to a marae
Tūrangawaewae	gives you a home base on a marae
Whanaungatanga	relationship sense of family connection belonging
Manaakitanga	care for a person well being this in includes the respect given to elders
Aroha	its love

I found this task really easy no problems at all because it was year 5 math

it was fun to do but it was to easy because it was year 6 math

this one was a bit harder to do because it was year 7 math

*  Next year I will want to do football because I want to.

*    The activity I did was touch

I liked that everyone who did their best.

The teams were hard to beat but we did not give up.

I am proud of the hard work we did in touch.
